As 2024 draws to an end and the Winter Solstice and Yuletide are upon us, I cannot help but reflect back on times gone by. The world is changing and the energy is shifting so quickly. So much is crumbling and falling away it almost seems unrecognisable to what it once was.
Nothing seems black or white anymore and the world appears in a state of flux and confusion. Maybe your friendships and relationships are too. This is the way things are right now and the only place we can go for peace and truth is within.
For the last Love Letter of 2024, Love’s healing message from the Black Rose is this:
It begins with You – all of it
“It all begins with you” is card five in the Black Rose Oracle deck. It is a simple concept that will help us stay mentally and emotionally healthy, for there is no-one or nothing outside of us who can show us our own worth and value.
From time to time I do listen to the news and politics because I like to observe what’s going on “out there”. I notice how emotions are all over the place with shaming and blaming running rife. Certainly in UK politics I see the pattern of shaming and blaming playing out and wonder how many of them carry that unhealed wound of scapegoating on a personal level?
There is a plague over the land and unhealed pattern that is still playing out. In 2018 I wrote of this dysfunctional, insidious ancient wound and burden that can be traced back to a ritual of ancient religions.
Used to control, dominate and have power over, this is a pattern where many of us grew up in environments where we also became the scapegoats and carried the burden for others anger, guilt, blame, shame and judgement that was projected onto us.

It begins with me
Safety and security are part of our human needs, along with Love and affection. It may seem that I have withdrawn from the world and not writing my Love Letters often. I have been giving my time, attention and energy to myself to write my book because this is a substantial body of work and my lived experience at the moment.
Engrossed in my own experiences of writing instead of being distracted by what is going on there, I am in my own world which is the only place I can be to make a difference to the world “out there”.
I often tell people that all healing and TRUTH are within. It is not outside of us. I have also said,
Does this experience take me closer to spirit or further away?
Am I energised in someone’s company and conversation or does it drain me?
Am I content in this moment?
Am I at peace in this moment?
It is six years since I received a cancer diagnosis on the Winter Solstice 2018 and my experience and journey with cancer began.
Bringing our attention to our experience rather than what we are thinking will always bring us out of the mind and into the now moment. Being present in my own experience with cancer was the only way I could get through a cancer diagnosis and treatment without fear.
So as the Wheel of the Year continues to turn and Mother Nature pulls over her brown duvet to rest and be still for the winter months that lie ahead, so must we.
Yule and Winter Solstice
This season is a time of reflection and going within.
The dark days that have been leading up to Yule are for a time of quiet contemplation. It is a time to reflect upon what has happened to us over the past year.
Yule is also a time to contemplate our hopes and aspirations, to consider how our natural gifts and talents can be used for the greater good over the coming months.
As the year draws to an end I am grateful to the seasons and for planetary alignments. “As above so below”, the planets also show us through retrogrades how we need to change and move forward too.
I am grateful for my two lovely sons who despite their own life and health challenges continue to move forward.
I am grateful for my true friends and acquaintances that stay in touch.

On this holy day of Solstice, as we enter the darkest day in the Northern hemisphere I shall light my Solstice candle on my altar at dusk. I shall be still for a while to honour the Light that sustains us all, the Light within.
