This page explains meditation and relaxation, the healing power of awareness, expanding and deepening the Heart, and why they are all so important in these challenging times of change.

The Guided Imagery, visualization and relaxation Meditations facilitated by Light Messenger are intended to create a deeper access into the sacred chamber of the inner Heart – offering healing and transformation for the mind, body, and Soul. Observing and tuning into the High frequencies of Light that are brought through, enables each individual who is open and willing to receive, to experience the opening of their energy centres, expand their Heart, and become more present with their feeling body.

Moving deeper into the Heart, negative thoughts and feelings melt away, stress is eliminated, and blocked energy is cleared. In this still place, a resonance of peace and tranquility abides, enabling each present to gain access and clarity to Source and their own intuitive Heart.

These meditations can be experienced in the group setting of the regular gatherings facilitated by Light messenger.

 The Importance of Meditation and Relaxation in Awakening

Independent of any religion or belief, meditation is a practice for living in the world…….not escaping from it.

With people losing their jobs and homes, relationships and marriages breaking down, many are struggling to cope and are in mental and emotional turmoil.

Stress, anxiety, depression and ill-health are on the increase in these changing times so peace is the most important thing in our life and a measure of healing. Meditation can help you become relaxed, calm and more emotionally balanced.

It is a simple approach and a wonderful aid to relieve stress and anxiety, as well as being a powerful method in promoting well-being and spiritual growth.

Meditation can also provide you with an opportunity for stillness to connect with your inner self and awaken you to your True nature. In that place of stillness, it enables you to experience the world from a new perspective, and move beyond the emotional turbulence of everyday existence during these challenging times. With a calm mind and open heart, conflicts can be resolved more easily.

For those seeking personal and spiritual development, meditation enables you to move to a new understanding of relationships, of nature around you and to the great knowledge of wisdom that is found in stillness.

In that place of stillness, it enables you to get in touch with your spiritual purpose and what is known as universal knowledge. When you can become still and centred, you BECOME the change for a centred, peaceful planet.

The Healing Power of Awareness

Within you, there is a dimension of consciousness that goes much deeper than the thoughts of your thinking mind – this consciousness is who you are. In ancient teachings, it is known as the Christ within – Buddhists refer to it as the Buddha nature.

Awareness or “being present” can only be experienced in this moment – NOW. With understanding and awareness comes an inner peace and harmony.

The endless mental chatter in our heads is our ego mind which operates from a place of fear. Under that fear is a place of all sorts of attachments, beliefs, limitation, anger and ignorance. When left unchecked, it can lead to anger, frustration, resentment and even mental distress or physical illness.

Mindfulness heals. Many of the unhealthy and destructive things we do spring from our automatic, unconscious responses. As mindfulness deepens we gradually notice not only destructive actions, but also the painful emotions such as anger, loneliness or fear that power them.

That is what meditation and relaxation is about and all there is – purifying the mind and body and becoming stiller and stiller every day. Meditation is an aid to remind ourselves to surrender, let go and BE still.

Our purpose in life is to evolve from “ego” existence to a Self Awakened human being. It is not about defeating the ego but to integrate it – merging our lower self with the higher awareness of a Self that is beyond form, time and space. It is the healing from the illusion of separation.

Help and Practical Tools Available

Some people can find it challenging getting started with meditation, particularly if they are using books or listening to audio recordings. Having personal contact with an experienced meditation instructor can help you to start meditating regularly or clarify any obstacles that may be hindering your meditation practice. If you have the opportunity to attend a meditation class near to where you live, a live “speaker” adds energy that may not always be conveyed on a recording.

Direct tuition and feedback from a teacher can also help you overcome any confusion or frustration surrounding meditation techniques. Individual sessions, even tailored to your own requirements can make meditation and relaxation clear, simple and achievable for everyone.

A Quick Relaxation Exercise

One of the most powerful ways to relieve tension and bring peace and relaxation into your being is by using breathing relaxation techniques and visualization. Working with the breath is effective and free – it can bring a state of deep relaxation, profound peace and well being.

This simple yet effective deep breathing exercise can be practised anywhere and is particularly useful for handling nerves prior to a particular performance, and for reducing stress generally.

This technique can be used anywhere, whether you are sitting or standing. Just take a slow, deep breath in……then slowly breathe out.

Repeat two or three times whilst relaxing your body with each breath…….

And that is all there is to it – use it often to relax your body if you find yourself in stressful situations.

Universal Oneness

Truth is everywhere and in everything, and we each have within us a silent “inner voice” to help us discern truth and reality.

I am not trying to convince you of anything or ask anyone to accept anything written in this website of faith – I leave it up you the reader, to discern whether or not anything contained within it is good for you, for others and for the world.

We cannot stop the Earth changes and the “Great Shift” process that is taking place – Humankind is now in the process of changing and transforming.

The SHIFT occurs when the perspective of who and what you are changes from the fragmented, lonely, small being you once thought you were to a clear understanding and realization of your true Self and your relation to ALL existence. The only thing that changes is one of viewpoint……….

Meditation and Relaxation Safety

Some relaxation techniques such as taking a few deep breaths can be used and practised anytime and anywhere to quickly relax. Other techniques such as visualization, progressive relaxation and sleep relaxation must only be used when it is safe to so.

It is not safe to use deep relaxation techniques or listen to audio recordings of relaxation scripts whilst you are driving.

Avoid using visualization or imagery techniques if you have or when experiencing severe psychosis or problems with reality orientation, as using such techniques can worsen hallucination.

Any visualization which involves fantasy should not be used with certain mental illnesses because the ability to differentiate reality from fantasy is impaired.  Guided visualizations involve certain elements of  suggestion and fantasy which can in certain circumstances can irritate psychotic symptoms.

Care should be taken as to the type of music used for mental health conditions.

It is not recommended to listen to binaural beat sounds if you suffer from any kind of mental condition or are pregnant.

Qualified music therapists work with people with mental health disorders. Anyone with serious mental health conditions should consult their doctor before receiving treatment.

Never meditate whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
